Leadership and Experience Council

OUR MISSION

The Leadership and Experience Council of the New Jersey State Bar Association is dedicated to supporting lawyers at every stage of their professional journey — from those beginning to build their practices to those transitioning from active practice into new professional or personal pursuits.

For seasoned and mid-career lawyers, the Council provides resources and a collegial forum to explore new directions — whether transitioning from public service to private practice, winding down a law firm, or preparing for full or partial retirement. It also offers meaningful opportunities to remain active in the legal community through mentoring, teaching, pro bono service, and leadership roles.

For younger lawyers, the Council serves as a bridge to the experience and wisdom of established practitioners. Through mentorship, networking, and practical programs on business development and career planning, the Council helps newer members of the profession gain perspective and guidance as they chart their own paths.

By fostering these intergenerational connections, the Leadership and Experience Council strengthens the fabric of the legal profession, promotes lifelong professional growth, and affirms that every stage of a lawyer’s career presents opportunities to lead, share, and contribute.
