The committee examines the statutory basis for business entities in New Jersey as well as trends in other states. Recommends legislative changes and new laws to place New Jersey at the leading edge among all other states. Advises the membership and the rest of the New Jersey bar about important developments in the area through the use of programs and publications.

Business Taxation Committee
The purpose of the committee will be to provide support to practitioners with respect to federal, state, and local tax issues frequently arising in the context of business transactions, work with the legislative chairperson to consider and recommend legislation, regulations, and other administrative guidance to aid practitioners with respect to these issues, and function as a liaison between the Business Law Section and the Taxation Law Section.

Ethics and Professionalism Committee
The mission of the committee is to foster and improve ethical conduct, professionalism and civility of transactional attorneys in attorney-attorney, attorney-client and attorney-public relationships. The committee gathers and monitors developments in the ethics and professionalism arena within the State of New Jersey, other States and the American Bar Association, and provides a forum and resource for transactional practitioners. The committee also focuses on exploring and developing best practices and working principles for transactional attorneys, and proposes such practices and principles to the Board and to all members of the Business Law Section.

Health and Hospital Committee
The committee focuses on existing and developing laws and cases, as well as legislative, regulatory and industry trends that affect the broad range of New Jersey healthcare providers, businesses and ventures, both for-profit and non-profit. The committee provides an avenue for discussion among practitioners who represent clients operating businesses or are otherwise involved in the health care arena. The committee also analyzes federal and state lawmaking efforts that could have a direct affect on the health care community.

Inn of Transactional Counsel Committee
The mission of the Inn is to teach, learn, hone, and improve practice skills, share experiences with other members of the bar, foster collegiality, and promote excellence in the practice of law, as related to transactional matters. The Inn meets monthly. Programs are interactive with energetic input from all participants. Members are expected to lead or facilitate at least one program each year. There are occasional presentations by outside experts. There are currently two Inns in operation - one in the Bergen-Hudson region that meets in Hackensack, and the other in the Essex-Morris region that meets in Morristown and Roseland.

Intellectual Property and Privacy Law Committee
The committee addresses intellectual property and privacy law issues of concern to business lawyers, with a particular emphasis on the role of IP in business transactions (e.g., stock and asset purchase agreements) and legal issues that apply to gathering, securing, maintaining and selling personally-identifiable information (e.g., privacy policy requirements) . The committee also focuses on the measures that a business may take to procure, protect and enforce its IP (e.g. patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets) and assess and mitigate the risk of infringing the IP of others.
