Hello Family Law Section members,
On
Thursday, Oct. 26, NJICLE in cooperation with the NJSBA Solo and Small-Firm Section will present
Why Her (or Him) and Not Me! How to Get Reporters to Call You and Not Lose Your License at the
New Jersey Law Center from 7 to 9 p.m.
Did you see your colleague quoted in the news? Why are reporters calling them instead of you?
The answer could be that reporters call the people they know; they don't call an attorney they have never heard of. Therefore, it is critical to learn how to introduce yourself to the media as a source to comment on a case or the business implications of a new law.
When you do get a call from a reporter, do you know where to draw the line to ensure you follow the Rules of Professional Conduct? Register to learn how to safely speak about your cases, or explain how a change in regulation will affect business operations.
Our panelists will provide you with the ethical requirements and boundaries for talking with the media. Based on a sample, you will draft a Media Profile - a biographical introduction that will help you reach out to reporters at the business and trade press your clients and prospects read.
