    Hello Family Law Section members,

On Thursday, Dec. 14, NJICLE will present What Tax Returns Tell you: A primer for practitioners and family law judges at the New Jersey Law Center from 5:30 to 9:05 p.m.

Analyzing tax returns is an essential part of understanding a litigant's true assets. Tax returns can reveal a wealth of information about the financial situation of an individual or a business. A solid understanding of personal, partnership, corporate and subchapter S returns can give you the competitive edge in assessing an individual's or a company's wealth, and will allow you to negotiate a better settlement for your client. This is especially true with cash businesses, where the cash flow can easily be concealed, or if you have a situation where it isn't cost effective to retain the services of an accountant or appraiser to determine the value of a business.
