Good afternoon Family Law Section members,
On
Wednesday, Nov. 2, NJICLE will present
Webcast- How to Lose Productively from
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.This is a seminar for winning lawyers – about losing. To quote a very successful New Jersey litigator, “If you haven’t lost a case, you’re not trying enough cases.”
Even the best lawyers lose but losing is lonely. There are rarely pats on the back for a case well-tried or consoling conversations from colleagues even when you performed to the highest standards. Losing can take a toll that is emotional, financial and reputational. We all hate it. No matter how many cases you win, losing hurts.
Whenever a lawyer wins a case, another lawyer loses one. Yet, there are rarely discussions about how competitive, successful professionals can cope with loss. This program aims to change that by talking about loss in a strategic, practical way that will help you deal with the letdown and move forward.
This program brings together successful, experienced litigators and a licensed social worker (the wife of a litigator) to talk about their methods for coping with loss. They will provide you with practical tips about how to emotionally digest a loss, discuss it with your clients, ensure you get paid and safeguard your reputation even when the client is dissatisfied.
You will receive pro tips from the panel and come away with a more positive, pragmatic approach to losing that will make you more productive and, yes, even more successful as you move through your career.
