Good morning Family Law Section members,

On Wednesday, May 11, NJICLE will present Webcast- How to Ethically Close a Practice from 9 to 10:40 a.m.

More than 70% of privately held businesses will be changing hands within the next two decades. Over the next 20 years, close to 80 million baby boomers will retire. Aging, and even the possibility of becoming disabled, are facts of life for attorneys and clients alike. This raises several issues for lawyers in firms of all sizes regarding what steps need to be taken to protect a firm, its clients, employees, and the families of all parties involved in the event of retirement or the sale of a business.

This comprehensive seminar will examine all these issues of succession planning. Beginning with the discussion of the formation of a firm, then going into succession and the act of the physical breaking up of the firm, and finally, confidentiality and record keeping. The panel of experts will review what steps should be taken to avoid costly problems through planning, including what an ideal succession plan looks like.
