David,
I am very familiar with NJ firearms law and represent gun owners in all kinds of actions, including permit appeals and others.
The police officer is wrong.

Client is having a DV FRO dismissed. He was told (unofficially, verbally, by cop at the station) that if he was ever subject to a FRO, he'll be denied permission to own a rifle now. I believe that's wrong and that he could fight it - does anyone know the law on the issue? He was an avid hunter and target shooter with friends before the DV incident a decade ago and wants to again have a firearms purchaser ID. Is there anyone who specializes in this in the Ocean County area?
