  • 1.  US Savings Bonds

    My client alleges that US savings were cashed in by forging her name.  Does anyone have experience in contacting the Department of Treasury to request the documentation regarding the cashing of the bonds?

    Lawrence,

    Cashing out US Savings Bonds requires the use of a Medallion "green" notary stamp.  I'd find it highly unlikely that someone could get a bank official to provide a medallion guarantee without good proof that the signer was the actual signer.  I'd check into that before trying to get information from the US Treasury Dept.
