    Hello Family Law Section members,

On Thursday, Oct. 11, NJICLE will present The Ultimate Baseball Lover's CLE Seminar: How America's Favorite Sport Paved The Way For Lasting Legal Change from 9 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. at Sheraton Raritan Center in Edison.

Baseball's relationship with the law goes back to its roots - some have even said that it has played a pivotal role as one of the most important positive forces for change in the past 100 years. Indeed, from Jackie Robinson's legacy in confronting racial barriers and Curt Flood's fight against involuntary servitude to the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) immortalized by the 1992 movie "A League of Their Own", the lessons our country has learned from Baseball have propelled us toward a fairer, more equal nation.

Of course, the lessons weren't always easy, as the recent steroid scandals, contract negotiation issues, gambling problems, and once great heroes ravaged by illegal drugs have served as warnings and awoken us to the dangers of a wide variety of problems (and solutions). And players aren't the only ones who faced challenges on the wrong side of the law. George Steinbrenner, principal owner of the NY Yankees from 1973-2010 was suspended twice from baseball, including a lifetime ban that was rescinded in 1993, and Marge Schott, managing partner of the Cincinnati Reds from 1984-1999, was also suspended and ultimately forced out of baseball operations permanently in 1999 for insensitive and racist remarks.

Register today for this all-new installment of one of NJICLE's most beloved topics - one of our country's most beloved pastimes. You'll leave both entertained and enlightened, and the strategies and tactics you pick up can be put to work right away in your practice.

The program will conclude with a look at the eleven lawyers enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
