  • 1.  SS benefits question

    Posted 07-27-2015 02:22 PM

Hi all - Client is 38 y.o mother who collected SS benefits from Nov. 2009 to July 2012 ~ $612 per month. She began working in September 2011 and called the SSA and told them. But they kept paying until July 2012. She knows she owes for overpayment. But the SS people seem to think they are still paying her (she gets letters saying how much she is entitled to receive each month and how it will increase or decrease) and the amount they say she owes (from other letters) has increased to more than $12,000. There are other complications I won't bore you with, and she has been to Cherry Hill SSA in person, filed many documents, including a waiver request, even talked to the big guys in Jamaica New York, but the letters she gets back indicate that SSA doesn't realize what is actually going on. It is too complicated for me. I do SSD and SSI appeals as part of my solo practice, but she needs a social security expert. I don't need a referral fee. I just want someone who can hopefully help her.
