Can I make good service of a divorce complaint while appearing in court for another family related matter? R. 4:4-3 says the Plaintiff's attorney can serve it but I cannot find in the rules where it says service can be made.

    Thanks,
    Mechelle

I have done this on multiple occasions here in NJ; at least two or three times on the record.

I've done it several times as well.  Just try to do it on the record, saying "...and for the record, I am handing defendant a copy of a complaint for divorce filed under Docket Number XX...."  See if you can get the defendant to acknowledge service verbally.  I've never had to do it, but I'd assume a transcript (especial;ly if defendant had been sworn) of his accepting it would be good enough to have default entered.
