Unless I am reading the notice incorrectly, it appears that as of 11/17/14, there will be a filing fee for post-disposition motions in FM and FV cases of $25.00.

    Bob,

It looks to me likes it $50 for FM post-judgment motions and $25 for
FD motions. I can't tell if FV motions are part of that $25 fee in
"post disposition application/motion in non-dissolution matters."

    Russ:

Definitely $50 for any motion in a FM. It says $25 for any "non-dissolution" post-disposition application, so I think that probably includes FV motions post FRO

"No matter how cynical you get, you can't keep up" -- Lilly Tomlin.

The decision to go ahead with the fee increases is disappointing, especially since it seemed that the SCT was listening ( http://www.njlawjournal.com/id=1202674191228/Justices-Hear-Opposition-Concern-Over-Filing-Fee-Hikes ).

Not one person who testified thought that this was a good idea; everyone was against it and was against it for essentially the same reasons -- that it reduced access to the justice system.  There were many groups who showed up and gave solid reasons why they shouldn't be enacted (Robert Hille for the New Jersey State Bar Association, Legal Services Vice President Harold Rubenstein, Alexander Shalom, senior staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union of NJ, Scott Welfel, an New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, Michelle Lefkowitz, director of legal programs for Partners for Women and Justice, Arthur Raimon for the New Jersey Creditors Bar Association, Gerard Felt, representing the New Jersey Association of Collection Agencies).

And not anything at all on liberalizing the fee waiver process?  Not a word on the creative "third way" alternatives to doing this (imposing $10 electronic filing fee, $20 (or $5 per 10 megs) to get audio of a court appearance emailed, surcharge on PI awards of 1% of funds between $100K and $200K (or some range), etc etc - the whole idea of finding ways to raise funds without closing the courtroom doors was falling on deaf ears?

Sad day. On November 17, the courthouse doors slam on a lot of the people who need our system the most.

Is an initial application under the FD still no cost?
    Post-disposition
    Application/Motion
    in
    Non-Dissolution
    Matter
The fee schedule seems to only indicate "post-disposition" motions and applications will have a fee of $25.

No, that's still there. They increased the filing fees for complaints and answers eff. 11/7/14. It's now $275 + $25 for PEA fee, if applicable, and answers are $175 +$25, if applicable.
