Greetings Listserve Members,
My friend's daughter recently got a letter from the State of Delaware Dept. of Insurance Commissioner. They want her to write a statement re: a matter that involves her employment of selling life insurance policies, involving commissions she received for the policies, cancelled policies from clients, and which seems to involve restitution. I am not sure if she was an independent contractor, but it appear she was advised her services are no longer required (i.e. she was let go).
I am looking for any attorneys that may be able to consult with her, so she knows whether to obtain legal representation or try to write a response to the Commissioner on her own. She has already provided her employer a statement, but my friend is worried further admissions or statements to the Commissioner will entail criminal liability, civil liability, etc. I am looking for attorney referrals she can reach out to either for attorneys in NJ who may be able to guide her to additional resources or for DE attorneys.
Thanks!
