NJICLE will present
Understanding Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) on
Monday, Dec. 16 from
9:30 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. at the
Westin, Mt. Laurel.Retirement assets are often a significant part of marital property. After a couple divorces, if one or both of them have employer-provided pensions, plan administrators need a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) to transfer plan assets from a titled spouse to a non-titled one. Plan administrators use various ways and formulas to divide pension assets, depending on the type of plan. Attorneys must understand how these formulas and methods can affect the amount of money their client may receive from a plan distribution.
It's crucial for family lawyers to know when a QDRO is needed, how they should address in a property settlement agreement, and understand the formulas and methodologies used by pension administrators to distribute pension assets. Attorneys must also know how plans treat survivors when a titled spouse passes away. Our informative seminar provides you with a detailed overview of QDROs. You will come away with an understanding of what QDROs are, what they do, and how they will impact your client's divorce settlement.
