Court Rule 5:8D – Parenting Coordinators - became effective on Sept. 1, 2023, establishing procedures for the appointment and functions of Parenting Coordinators, and creating a Statewide Roster of Approved Parenting Coordinators. AOC Directive #16-23 requires Parenting Coordinators on the statewide roster to take four hours of continuing training each year in order to remain on the approved list.

To meet this continuing education requirement, a group of experienced parenting coordinators, including three attorneys and one licensed mental health professional, will present a specialized four-hour program focusing on:

    • Case management skills - intake/screening, addressing non-compliance, drafting recommendations
    • Conflict resolution concepts and skills - managing high conflict behavior, effective communication
    • Ethical issues - self-determination vs decision-making, complying with the scope of the assignment, confidentiality and privacy issues when dealing with third parties, and suspending or terminating the process
    • Challenges in the implementation of R.5:8D and AOC Directive #16-23

Please note that this program will be in-person only.
