List mates,I was recently retained in order to file a cross motion against a father who is seeking parenting time of the parties minor child. Child is autistic and the father has, to say the least, been sporadically involved in the child's life. Father does not seem to understand the need for consistency and structure in the child's life and decided to just pop in every now and again every six to eight months or so. Additionally, father is overly rough with the child (pushing/rough housing) while not understanding that he is a 6 year old with special needs. While my client would like the father to see the child, my client would like for him to take some sort of class to fully understand the diagnosis, as well as how to handle meltdowns that will occur/consistency in visitation/ structured routine/occupational therapy needs. Does anyone know any classes for parents with autistic children in Ocean/Monmouth counties? ------------------------------
