Can anyone tell me if the Statute of Frauds was amended again after Maeker v
Ross to say that the law should be applied retroactively? I know the
Senate and the Assembly passed a bill to this effect but I'm not sure if
that means it becomes a law and if not and the governor must sign, has the
    governor signed it into law?

    Thank you.

The bill that would amend the Statute of Frauds to apply the law retroactively in palimony situations is S2553. This bill has not passed the Assembly, but has passed the Senate. In order for it to take effect, it must pass the Assembly and then be signed by the Governor or vetoed within 45 days of passage of the bill (with some exceptions based on when the bill is passed). Therefore, it is not law and would not become law unless and until the Governor signs it or does not timely veto it.
