We all know and understand that court files are public record--which makes our clients concerned about their private life being made public. However, I have never, until now, had the need to obtain a copy of a divorce file for a matter in which I was not representing one of the parties.
What is the process to do so?
My client went to the courthouse in Burlington County (wanting to save fees) to request the file for his ex-wife's boyfriend/cohabitator to find proof of the cohabitation because he has been served at her address, claimed expenses relating to her house, etc. in his divorce case concerning a post-judgment child support modification. The Court denied his request for a copy of the file.
What do we do?
Thanks in advance
