Hello Family Law Section members,
On
Monday, June 18, the NJSBA will present the
2018 NJSBA Town Hall Program, "What Would You Do? A Real World Perspective on How to Advocate for Your Clients in Trenton." The town hall will be held at the
Historic Trenton Masonic Temple from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Program Description and AgendaWatch legislators and staffers interact about real world lobbying issues,
learn how government affairs affects your practice, understand how to better serve your clients through government relations and recognize the ethical pitfalls of lobbying and the practice of law.
Join us for an interactive discussion on real world lobbying scenarios that unfold in front of you. Lobbyists will ask both legislators and staffers how they handle real world scenarios and let them play out their reactions and engage in an interactive dialogue to better understand how to advocate your client's issues in Trenton. Learn how they react to certain scenarios, how NJSBA's advocacy affects your practice, how you can better serve your clients through the legislative process and do it all without violating the Rules of Professional Conduct.
You Get to Ask Legislators and Their Staff What Would You Do If…Moderated by
Christine Stearns, Esq., a lobbyist at Gibbons P.C., and
William Maer, a lobbyist for Public Strategies Impact, LLC., legislators and staffers participate in a round robin discussion fielding questions on how they would handle different, real-world scenarios fraught with conflict. Watch the office dynamic unfold before your eyes and experience the interplay between the legislator and the staffer. And get an expert perspective of the ethical pitfalls of these interactions.
