    Good Morning,

There was previously a hotline where you could call in NJ with ethical scenarios that was confidential.  When the only number that was called on the judiciary website, they gave a the number for the ABA hotline.  Does the NJ hotline still exist?

    Amanda,

I have called the NJ Hotline-  609-421-6100 with ethical issues, and they're very helpful. I have also called the ABA hotline, and they've been extremely helpful as well.

Just as an update to this thread, I tried the above number and it was linked to a lengthy phone messaging system that ultimately disconnected during the wait time.  I did however locate an alternate number for telephonic ethics help, pursuant to R 1:19-1.  https://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/attorneys/assets/rules/r1-19.pdf

    https://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/attorneys/oaehelp.html

    609-815-2924 seemed most direct.

Please see the following message posted by me Feb. 21, 2018:

    Hello Family Law Section members,

Attached and uploaded to your section's library is Judge Grant's February 20 notice regarding the new phone number for the Attorney Ethics Hotline. A link is also provided below.

Notice to the Bar - Attorney Ethics Research Assistance Hotline - for Lawyers Only
    (609) 815-2924 New Number

The telephone number for the attorney ethics research assistance hotline now is: 609-815-2924. This is a new number. Lawyers may call the hotline for research assistance on legal ethics and advertising issues pertaining to their own, prospective conduct. The hotline does not provide advice or an opinion, and does not discuss substantive law. The call is confidential but callers must provide their names and certify that they are New Jersey lawyers, their inquiry concerns their own, prospective conduct, and they are not currently the subject of a disciplinary grievance or proceeding. The hotline does not accept anonymous calls. See R. 1:19-9. When you call the hotline, you will be prompted to leave a voice mail message, and your call will be returned.
