I am currently representing a client who is on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard. Does anyone have experience with military divorces? I need some guidance on how to deal with military benefits (i.e., survivor benefit plan, military pension, thrift savings plan).

    Thanks.

You just need to ask your member to provide you with info from his or her personell center. Remember, the Coast Guard is not part of the Department of Defense. The only real hurdle, so to speak, is with dealing with the pension and beneficiary status when the member detaches. This is research you should do personally for the experience, because it will come up recurrently.
