Dear Members of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association:
As the Chair-Elect of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association ("NJSBA"), it is my pleasure to invite you to apply to fill a limited number of seats on the Executive Committee for the 2026-2027 term.
Candidates seeking consideration for a seat on the Executive Committee must be members, in good standing, of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Family Law Section. Additionally, candidates should have already made significant contributions to the NJSBA, NJSBA Family Law Section, the New Jersey Family Lawyer, and/or their local Bar Association(s).
Service on the Executive Committee requires a significant time commitment that includes:
· Attending monthly meetings of the Executive Committee in various locations in New Jersey as required under the By-Laws of the Section (there are no meetings in July and August);
· Serving on subcommittees concerning the operations of the Family Law Section and substantive areas of law;
· Reviewing committee reports, legislation, and other materials and participating in discussions at the meetings;
· Advocating for legislation concerning family law consistent with the official position adopted by the NJSBA Board of Trustees in Trenton, and by developing relationships with your local Legislators to assist with our lobbying efforts;
· Contributing articles to the New Jersey Family Lawyer; and
· Attending events sponsored by the NJSBA, including the Annual Meeting, Annual Holiday Party, Family Law Symposium, and other family law seminars and meetings as your schedule and other obligations permit.
Lastly, the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section is committed to increasing the "diversity and participation of our membership and to cultivate camaraderie among family lawyers" as set forth in our By-laws.
If you are able to commit to these obligations and would like to serve as a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section, please send me a letter of application including any qualifications that you may have to serve as a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section, as well as any topics for any article you are willing to write for the New Jersey Family Lawyer. In addition to your letter, please provide a copy of your resume. Please send your letter and resume to me via email at [email protected].
We are also accepting applications for the young lawyer co-chair positions. The young lawyer co-chairs will each have a position on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section for their term. The young lawyer co-chairs will be responsible for organizing educational and social events for the young lawyers of the Family Law Section, organizing the silent auction for the holiday party for the Family Law Section, and organizing the educational programming for the Family Law Retreat.
If you would like to apply to be a young lawyer co-chair, please send me your letter application detailing your qualifications and your ideas for organizing education and social events for the young lawyers of the Family Law Section for the 2026-2027 term.
The deadline for applications to be considered for selection to the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section and young lawyer co-chair is April 6, 2026. If you do not submit your information to me by April 6th, you will not be considered for a position on the Family Law Executive Committee for the 2026-2027 term.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
Very truly yours,
/s/ Christine C. Fitzgerald
