    Hello Criminal Law Section and Family Law Section members,

    The Criminal Law Section, Family Law Section and New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education are presenting Juvenile Justice Reform on Monday, Feb. 8 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center.

    NJ CLE information: This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 3.3 hours of total CLE credit.

    As a member of the Criminal or Family Law Section, you save 25 percent off the general tuition. The tuition for section members is $131.25. The general tuition is $175.

    Effective March 2016, the juvenile justice system in New Jersey will see changes in the process of effectively advocating for teens in trouble. These new laws are the culmination of efforts to create age appropriate treatment and access to rehabilitation for teens who engage in unlawful activity.

    Learn the new changes to the law and how they affect your clients, including:
    • Age at which a juvenile can be charged as an adult
    • Changes involving what crimes can be transferred to adult courts
    • Waiver hearings
    • Sentencing changes
    • Changes to treatment of juveniles once they are in the system - a discussion of housing and confinement
