    Colleagues:

The Berner Law & Mediation Group seeks to add another mediator/lawyer to our team.  If you know anyone who might be a good fit, we ask that you pass along this job posting.

    Family Lawyer-Mediator position

Whether you are an experienced family lawyer tired of going to court and fighting every day, or an associate with at least four years of family law experience, if you want to use your knowledge and honed skills to help make a difference in helping individuals and families work out their differences together, instead of against each other, we may have a job for you.

We invite you to check us out at www.mediationoffices.com.

While we are Family Lawyers, we don't litigate.

We are a family-focused firm, not only for our clients but for our own families.  We value a work-life balance; we would consider part-time work (with a goal to build up to full-time over time).

We seek high-integrity, quality, and emotionally intelligent professionals to best help the families we serve. We are not looking for you to be just another factory provider of legal services, nor are we looking for churners to increase our billables. We are looking for client-centered lawyers who care about their clients and their families. We are looking to help these families work through their differences in the best way possible for each family.

    • Serve as a mediator for divorce, separation, prenuptial, and postnuptial matters.
    • Conduct new client consultations with a passion for our non-adversarial legal services.
    • Demonstrate a high commitment to this work in assisting the Firm with marketing to help spread that work that we do.

    Qualifications

    • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • You are comfortable negotiating in highly stressful and emotional situations without losing your cool.
    • You are well-organized and able to handle multiple projects at once.
    • You understand the importance of delivering a stellar client experience.
    • You have a true passion for helping couples resolve marital or other family disputes in the least. adversarial way possible.
    • You work well in a team environment while being self-directed and self-motivated.
    • You are optimistic, empathetic, collaborative, and operate with the utmost integrity.
    • You excel at setting realistic expectations for our clients and managing those expectations as the case progresses.
    • You appreciate the value of streamlined policies and procedures to ensure that each client receives excellent representation. You are comfortable adapting your style to incorporate our high standards of care.
    • You are a member in good standing of the New York and New Jersey State Bar.
    • You have 4+ years of experience in Family Law.
    • You are willing to become a trained Collaborative Divorce attorney and mediator.
