NJSBA program:
30 Years of Madden v. Delran Twp.: Where do we go from here?
An interactive forum on the impact of Madden on attorneys and the public
Presented in cooperation with the NJSBA Pro Bono Committee
It has been 30 years since the NJ Supreme Court decided Madden v. Delran Twp., which mandated assigned counsel to indigent persons who have the right to counsel in New Jersey. The NJSBA invites you to a forum to learn the history of Madden and its evolution over the last 30 years. Afterwards, join in the discussion of the impact of Madden on attorneys and the public as the NJSBA continues to advocate for changes to the system of assigned counsel to enhance representation to the public.
In advance of the forum, all attorneys are invited to answer a brief survey and share their experiences and feedback about Madden assignments they have received. Access the survey here.
