    Hello Family Law Section members,

On Monday, Dec. 2, NJICLE will present Finance for Lawyers: Master the Key Financial Issues You're Likely to Encounter from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center.

Lawyers are often called upon to provide counsel on financial matters. Having a solid knowledge of financial principals and concepts is crucial for every well-rounded attorney. Learn to listen like an accountant (A.K.A. what to listen for).

This is not a seminar on accounting or bookkeeping - as an attendee, you’ll gain a solid, intuitive understanding of the basics of finance. Using easy-to-follow and real-world examples, the program will include a case study of an existing public company, and will share financial concepts in plain English.

    FEATURING
    Joseph Novello, CPA, MBA
    Director, Financial Training Organization,
    Metuchen
Mr. Novello began his career in accounting and management consulting at Ernst & Young, Certified Public Accountants, in New York City and obtained his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license in New York. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College and an MBA in Finance from New York University. Mr. Novello maintains his CPA license by completing continuing professional education in accounting, auditing, taxation and general business topics. He has years of experience working in both American and international Fortune 500 companies where his positions have included Controller, CFO, Director of Planning and Analysis, and Director of Sales Operations. Mr. Novello has presented his finance programs to hundreds of lawyers in 13 states and throughout Canada. He brings much of his real world experience to his seminars and his goal is to present lawyers with an easy-to-understand seminar that will make dealing with a client's financial matters more manageable.

    Why You Need to Attend
Like it or not, lawyers need to worry about their clients' money. They do not have to be accountants or financial analysts, but they must know how to listen like accountants and financial analysts so they have a thorough understanding of their clients' financial situation.

This seminar provides you with a proven, workable approach to learning financial concepts. After taking it, you will feel more confident giving advice to business clients, so you can help them meet their objectives and goals, and gain the edge during negotiations or litigation.

Our program will give you the basics of the essential financial components necessary for your clients' success. Once you understand accounting principles, you'll be able to understand a financial statement, formulate successful inquiries, and communicate effectively with business and financial colleagues.
