Hi Faith,
I took the exam about 6 years ago. To prepare, I reviewed all of the Part V rules. I also reviewed 2 years of Family Law Symposium books for trending topics, John Paone's Top 10 case reviews, etc.
I saw John Trombadore's comment. I have to disagree. It FEELS like a bar exam. You will write your dominant hand off filling out blue books (real ones) responding to bar-like hypotheticals. They raise questions of substantive and procedural law. There are plenty of opportunities to demonstrate acquired wisdom. I included plenty of observations where mediation and arbitration would serve my hypothetical clients well. I discussed client counseling issues and ethical concerns. I'm not saying that is the right or only way, but it is what I did, and I passed the exam.
You are an experienced divorce and family lawyer. I am sure you also will pass the exam.
Good luck.
