  • 1.  Experts / Mercer - alienated (or intimidated) teen child

    Posted 02-21-2019 06:49 PM
I have a matter in Mercer where I'm to submit three names of experts. Issue is an intimidated (more than alienated) child.

Last week in court, mom asked for the child to be interviewed. We were okay with that if the interview would be sealed. According to mom, the child hates and fears dad and dad's family. According to dad and his family, child is afraid of mom and says what she tells him to say. Dad's mom tells me that, on mom's orders and with mom present, the child walked up to her and said outside the courtroom "I don't love you, I don't ever want to go to your house. Please leave me alone." During the court proceedings, dad's mom left the courtroom while mom was still inside the courtroom. The child saw her, ran up to her, cried, said "I love you and hope the judge makes me come to your house. I miss you. I'm sorry for saying that." I've dealt with this case for a long time and believe her 100%.

Being that the court can't seal the interview, the next fallback is an expert who can meet with all the parties and the child separately and in combination. The judge asked for three names of experts.

    I've thought of:
    <x-tab>        </x-tab>Dr. Joseph Cooper (he's recused).
<x-tab>        </x-tab>Dr. Donald Franklin (am checking his availability)
<x-tab>        </x-tab>Dr. Rosenbaum / Bunker Hill (I think he's away and tends to be backlogged).

The parties' aren't indigent, but cost is a factor.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need to get a list to the judge tomorrow.

I second Dr. Dranoff.  He works with clients on the fees and is extremely conscientious of the lawyer's needs, keeping excellent lines of communication via email and phone (unlike many experts who are impossible to reach).
