
Position: 2 Program Assistants to provide paralegal and administrative support for our Domestic Violence Legal Programs
Organization: Partners for Women and Justice empowers low-income and abused women to build safe and secure futures for themselves and their children by providing equal access to justice. We offer quality legal assistance in domestic violence and family law matters.
The Program Assistants will work closely with, and under the supervision of, Partners’ Director of Legal Programs and Staff Attorneys.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct intakes with clients
- Provide paralegal support for staff attorneys
- Assist with interpreting for non-English speaking clients
- Maintain client database
- Track cases for outcome
- Prepare summaries and packets of information for volunteer attorneys
- Track cases and assignments to pro bono attorneys
- Answer miscellaneous calls
- Interact with other community organizations that serve our clients.
- Other responsibilities, as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bilingual – Spanish/English or Portuguese/English
- College graduate preferred
- Two years work experience in an office environment preferred
- Experience in family law matters, including domestic violence, a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong organizational, writing and interpersonal skills
- Facility with computers and software (Word, Excel, Access)
- Willingness to travel to court in various counties
