  • 1.  emancipation re disability

    Colleagues,

Can someone direct me to case law addressing the question of whether parents have a continuing obligation to support their child beyond the age of emancipation when the child is disabled (qualifies for SSI)?  Let's say child hasn't even applied for SSI but was classified in elementary school, later graduating from high school.  Mother alleges child cannot hold a job, is not competent enough.  How long does dad have to keep paying?

TIA for any thoughts or direction.
