Hello Family Law Section members,On Friday, Dec. 21, NJICLE will present a seminar in its popular historic interpreter series, Eleanor, Franklin & the Re-Thinking of America from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Wilshire Grand, West Orange.Spend a morning with President Franklin Roosevelt and the accomplished and revered First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. Moderated by esteemed lawyer and Constitutional Law expert Donald Scarinci, you will be transported back to a time when America was trying to recover from the Great Depression and the winds of war were taking us closer to Word War II.FACULTYModerator/Speaker:Donald Scarinci, Esq.Scarinci Hollenbeck, LLC, LyndhurstSpeakers:Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt(Rene Goodwin)President Franklin D. Roosevelt(Neill Hartley)The program will begin with a conversation with the President. It's the 1930's and unemployment is up to 33%. President Roosevelt must rally a nation demoralized by poverty, hunger, housing shortages and labor disputes escalating to riots. Unable to walk without crutches, FDR was able (through the sheer power of his personality, his political skill, and his eloquent Fireside Chat rhetoric), to lead America from fear to federal programs that eventually healed the economic crisis of the Great Depression. Mr. Scarinci will ask the president about all of his experiences, and the two discuss their impact on the law and politics today.Mrs. Roosevelt will follow the President, as she discusses her work both in supporting his new policies and as a ground-breaking woman who worked for social justice. Most notably, after her husband was stricken with paralysis, Eleanor became Franklin's eyes and ears, listening to his constituents and providing a sounding-board for his new policies. After Franklin's death, Eleanor continued to champion human rights, actively fighting segregation as First Lady of the World. Eleanor's difficult early life made her sensitive to the pain of others, and her character made her commit to a lifetime devoted to easing that suffering.Tap into the lasting legal lessons we can all learn from Franklin and Eleanor. Join us for an unforgettable experience with this historic first couple and their impact on the law and social policies of today.CLE Credits:NJ CLE information: This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 3.3 hours of total CLE credit.NJ CLE: This program has been approved for 3.3 credits (50 minute hour)PA CLE: 2.5 substantive credits pending ($12 fee – separate check payable to NJICLE must be submitted at the end of the program)NY CLE (t&nt): 3.0 professional practice creditsThe tuition for NJSBA members is $172.
