    Dear Colleagues:

I had a productive conversation with the CEO of EasySoft and have been given permission to share his comments with you.  In response to one of your questions, they are working on an app for our phones. So here you go - and Chris was receptive to speaking to anyone interested in having a conversation.

    Dear Rosalyn,

It was pleasure speaking with you yesterday.  Thank you for taking the time to do so.

    Bundling of Easy Soft software

As discussed, the bundling of all Easy Soft software into a single package is a commercial decision that is important to the Easy Soft business.

Most great software providers sell one product at a single monthly price per user.  In fact, even Microsoft have begun doing this with their Office 365 offering.  This means that enhancements and new software can be provided to users without the need to pay further additional costs.

In the case of Easy Soft, the number of attorneys who use our CIS product, on its own, without any other product is in fact very low.  It accounts for 1% of our overall revenue.  At present, 50% of our development resources are dedicated to working on CIS.  As I’m sure you understand, this doesn’t provide for a commercially viable product.

Easy Soft has provided great software to the family lawyers of New Jersey for almost 30 years.  This is something we are proud of.  In order to continue to do so, we need to make future development on the CIS commercially viable.  We have plans to develop new exciting web and smart phone versions of our products, including CIS.  Bundling our products makes this possible.

In June 2015 we began selling a bundled product for the first. Since then, we have had record numbers of firms purchase the Easy Soft product.  This provides us confidence that this is the right business model as it has been accepted by the market and provides the funds to continue to develop better software.

Offer for NJSBA members who renew their product

In order to assist our current clients who use the CIS on its own upgrade to our new package, we are pleased to offer a 20% discount per user per month to members of the NJSBA upon them providing their membership number to us.

Again, this is only open to those firms who only use the CIS product on its own.

Thank you again for reaching out to us.  Your feedback is very important.  If you or anyone else would like to discuss this further with me, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I still think DivorceWare is the way to go, for basic CIS and child support worksheets.

here is what DivorceWare's developer has to say:

I see that DivorceWare is only available in Word.  Dos anyone know of an alternative to EasySoft that is compatible with a Mac?

But they are creating a bundle that doesn't make sense. It just doesn't make sense for his company to tell me that I have to pay 3 times as much as I used to, but that I should be ok with that because I'm also getting NY forms, PA forms and real estate firms. How many NJ attorneys who specialize in family law can possibly use any of that, much less want it?

Thanks for passing this on Roz. I'm researching the other options suggested by others here last week. This has been a really productive thread topic. :-)
