    Can anyone tell me how long it takes to receive a Docket number for a Divorce Complaint and how I will receive that docket number?

    Depends on the county and you will receive an email with proof of the index number and filing.

    I filed one in Essex county soon after the court notice came out about JEDS.  Filed on a Thursday, and got a phone call from the court clerk the next Monday with a docket number.  I had also sent in a hard copy for stamping, which was sent back.  Was really happy with the system.

    Now that JEDS is linked to the JACS account, it's even easier.

    Your response made me laugh.

    In the old days, a year ago, we had to file a motion in the "wrong" county for an order granting a change of venue.

    If you are right, and I hope you are, that aggravating ancient practice is no more.

    One of the pop ups that you have to click off on specifically says to make sure everything is correct because there will not be any refunds for fees charged.  However, I would try and give a call and see if you can get a human to understand and just transfer the filing to the correct county.
