  • 1.  Custody evaluation in contentious case

    Can anyone recommend a good custody evaluator in a very contentious case involving three young children and possible parental alienation.  The other attorney will not agree to use a joint evaluator so it has to be someone that will do an evaluation for one party.  If you have a recommendation, please email me directly not on the list serve.

    Well... Not knowing what County you are in, I would say Sharon Ryan-Montgomery or Charles Diament, both of whom could probably give you other referrals if need be. Since Mark White doesn't appear to be doing this sort of work any longer, I would say that these folks are at the very tops of their games.

    I used her in a high-conflict case - did an excellent job (went with my client, but I don't think that biased me. Well written evaluation, not afraid to pull punches).

    I've used him (and had him court appointed) serveral times, primarily to complete a Custody Nuetral Assessments (mini-evaluation), but he'd done an excellent job. Very frequently court appointed. I'm 95% sure he also does full evaluations.

    I've also heard the name Dr. (Mark?) White - haven't used him, but hear good things about him.


    If none of the above, Dr. Chester Sigafoos, (609) 758-2471. I had him in one case, he utterly eviscerated my client in a 99 page (single spaced - would've been 198 pages). There most certainly were creepy (to use the nicest possible word) aspects to client, but Sigafoos accepted some factual representations as true that a modicum of research would've shown weren't true (in his defense, they wouldn't have overcome the skin-crawling facts that weren't contested, but it gave the client something to focus on to dispute the other conclusions). My larger gripe was lack of communication, additional bills in the middle of doing the report, and report was very late. But I'd probably use him again if I were stuck - perhaps making his receiving payment contingent on agreed-upon deadlines being met.
