    Hello Family Law Section members,

On Monday, Jan. 14, NJICLE will present a Webinar - Courtroom Gadgets & Gizmos: Making Life Much Easier, Efficient & Healthier For You and All Court Participants from 12 to 1:40 p.m.

This practical new program, recently presented at Judicial College, will provide you with the Judge's perspective of how to use simple technology fixes in the courtroom. This is NOT a trial skills seminar, and instead focuses on common/real-world problems that occur during the course of a trial that can be easily overcome using simple technology or a bit of imagination.

    FACULTY
    Hon. Sohail Mohammed, J.S.C.
    Passaic
    Matthew Cavaliere, Esq.
    Cavaliere and Cavaliere, PA, Wayne
    Christina Vasilliou Harvey, Esq.
    Lomurro Law, Freehold

    • What can you do to calm a witness with physical or mental challenges, or a child so that they can testify, while at the same time ensuring that the accommodation doesn't prejudice the jury?
    • How can you create a work around when technology that facilitates communication between a client and their attorney at side bar or in chambers fails?
    • In a trial with extensive use of electronic evidence, how do you keep a record of what was played in court and on what device in case it is needed for post-trial proceedings or appellate review?

The Hon. Sohail Mohammed, JSC, a Superior Court judge and electrical engineer, will share unique day-to-day technological and operational challenges that judges, court staff, attorneys and other court-participants encounter. Judge Mohammed will offer practical guidance, solutions, and work-arounds to address them, including some demonstrations of various gadgets, gizmos, programs and tools; analysis of several real-life case studies; simple effective techniques, practical recommendations and strategies to enhance and employ courtroom technology, devices and other aides in day-to-day settings.
