  • 1.  Complicated Custody Matter

    Dear colleagues
A family member of a friend has asked me this question and not all details known so please bare with me. Eventually I will probably need a referral. PC had an ugly complicated divorce that originated in Puerto Rico. Ex husband had money and connections and won full custody of couples 2 daughters as well as child support. Eventually somehow PC got certain visitation rights but exhusband never abided by it. Exhusband also continuously moved throughout Puerto Rico and without permission from court and unbeknownst to PC eventually moved children to Florida. Ex husband has forbidden all contact and again PC found out he's moved again but not sure where. PC has continued to pay child support to the court in Puerto Rico. Today she received a letter from IRS that not only is she not getting taxes but they withdrew $20000+ for child support arrears. She has not received notice of arrears and doesn't even know where ex is located or what court has jurisdiction. Puerto Rico court refusing to answer questions. What can she do? Any recommendations for a lawyer who I can speak to or who could help? Any suggestions as to what can be done in interim?
    Thank you
