    To our family law colleagues attending the New Jersey State Bar Association Convention in Atlantic City next week, you are cordially invited to the Long Bar at the Borgata on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., for a cocktail hour hosted by the New Jersey Divorce Arbitrators Association. We are a group of family lawyers who have been trained by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in family law arbitration and are looking to spread the word among our colleagues about the advantages of family law arbitration. We are hoping to see you there!

    Everything stated above is fine. It's an invitation to a reception at a Bar Association event.

    Wow – to me – it sounded like Jeralyn was just inviting people to a free networking event, with alcohol and an opportunity to meet colleagues and maybe exchange business cards.   Second sentence sounded to me like she was just explaining who they were.  Didn't sound like she was promoting but apparently that's subject to interpretation.  Our practice is difficult enough, but this list serve is usually productive and not negative and combative, so may I suggest that in the future when we disagree with a colleague, we do it privately and not to the entire list serve.   Have a great week.

    Hi Albertina.

    You can check the NJSBA policy on prohibited listserv advertising. There should be a webmaster who makes these calls, so a member doesn't have to.  I like Jeralyn. It wasn't personal.

    What would be the purpose of a private note? What was done publicly should not have been done.
