National Opera Center in New York City, NY.From ransomware to the recently enacted NY SHIELD Act, attorneys practicing in New York must be protected from – and aware of – a wide range of cybersecurity issues that threaten virtually every small business. While this may seem like a daunting task, the good news is there are simple, practical strategies you can use immediately to stay safe. As if the cybersecurity threat wasn’t enough, the newly passed New York SHIELD (Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Security Handling) Act, the GDPR, and a wide range of new Data Privacy regulations make practicing good data security and hygiene more than a luxury – they make it mandatory.
NJICLE and the NJSBA Cybersecurity Legal Task Force are proud to present this new installment of our popular Cybersecurity and Data Security seminars to provide you with a better understanding of data security risks, security concerns, the latest regulations – and the top best practices and technologies you need to use to stay safe. No prior technology or cybersecurity knowledge is needed to get the most out of this program - as an attendee, you’ll hear directly from a wide variety of knowledgeable and relatable state/national experts, as they provide you with the foundation you need to stay safe. By the end, you’ll walk away with a sense of confidence and clarity into what you need to do to protect yourself in today’s rapidly evolving environment.

NJICLE will present
Persuasive Storytelling and Presentation Skills for Lawyers on
Jan. 10 from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
Doubletree by Hilton in Fairfield.
The best story wins. Without a strong narrative, even the strongest evidence can still fail to be persuasive. To engage a jury, judge, court personnel, opponent, or prospective client, a successful advocate identifies the essential intention, says it directly, and leaves out the smokescreens. Learn how to engage the jury by giving the case story a dynamic narrative, and how to tell the story between the words by improving vocal inflection and body language. With concepts drawn from years in professional acting and public speaking, David Mann will share the secrets of powerful, engaging presentations that can apply to openings, closings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, witness preparation, witness interrogation, oral arguments, or prospective client interviews.
