    Hello Family Law Section members,

On Saturday, Feb. 23, NJICLE will present Autism and Divorce: Issues and Approaches to Handling Divorces With Autistic Children from 9 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center.

Roughly half of all marriages end in divorce. With the rate of autism on the rise, and with New Jersey leading the nation with a staggering 3% of all 8-year-old children diagnosed, it is a safe prediction that almost every family law attorney will soon handle at least one case involving a child with autism or other similar developmental disability.

Accordingly, it is important for matrimonial practitioners, judges, mediators, mental health professionals, and many parents to familiarize themselves with special issues which arise when parents have a child with autism spectrum disorder. The importance is further heightened when autistic children find themselves in the middle of divorce proceedings.

Do you have effective strategies to help make autistic children comfortable when interacting with them in already stressful matrimonial law matters? Are you aware of the unique needs autistic children have, in order to make sure they are best represented when parents divorce?

Make your plans to attend this important new seminar today to learn everything you need to know to help get the best results when handling divorces with autistic children. As an attendee, pick up proven strategies that make a real difference in the lives of your clients as you work through these complex and often overlooked cases together.
