    Can anyone recommend an attorney in Ocean County who can assist a woman - recently denied an FRO against her live in boyfriend (despite a recording of him threatening to put her head through a wall) - in crafting an agreement giving him a share of the house so he'll go away?  I don't have all the facts surrounding these circumstances, including who owns the house, and am asking on behalf of a friend for her mother.

    Hi Elizabeth,

    My first suggestion would be to offer her information about Ocean County's domestic violence service provider, Providence House.  NJCEDV's Guide to Services (also attached) has their contact information, along with the contact information for domestic violence service providers in all 21 counties.  Every county has non-attorney legal advocates on staff that can provide court accompaniment, information about the legal process, safety planning, and emotional support.

    I reached out to Gayle and Laura, the legal advocates in Ocean County, for referrals to attorneys that have a good understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence.  Here's what they provided:

    If your friend's mom is interested in having her FRO denial reviewed for an appeal, the DV Clinic at Rutgers Camden sometimes does DV appeals pro bono.  Their number is (856) 225-6425.
