    Hello Family Law Section members,

I am reaching out to you today regarding two upcoming seminars that are of interest to family lawyers. Both seminars will be held at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.

Oct. 5 - Arbitrating Family Law Cases: A Comprehensive Roadmap for Success
Oct. 7 to Nov. 18 - Mediation Training- Family Law Cases (5-Day (40 Hour) Mediation Training Course)

On Saturday, Oct. 5, NJICLE in cooperation with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers - New Jersey Chapter and the Matrimonial Lawyers Alliance will present Arbitrating Family Law Cases: A Comprehensive Roadmap for Success from 9 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.

Divorce litigation can become financially and emotionally costly. Many attorneys and their clients favor mediation, but it may not be suitable in cases where it is unlikely that parties can hash out an agreement. When parties want to avoid the time and costs of litigation but need a decisionmaker to provide an expedited process, finality, or a forum which will provide greater privacy than the courts, family lawyers should recommend arbitration. Long used in labor and employment cases, the New Jersey Supreme Court gave arbitration in family matters a strong endorsement in 2105, when it issued rules and procedures for family arbitration. Those changes were the result of the recommendations of the Court's Ad Hoc Committee on Family Law Arbitration.

All of the seminar presenters, including Judge Bonnie J. Mizdol, were on that committee, and they will highlight the importance of the current rules and discuss why you should encourage clients to consider using arbitration. Register today to learn how arbitration can enhance your family law practice.
