Alimony waiver for failing to pursue?

Wife earns roughly $28,000. Husband $94,000. Each had custody of children from previous marriage - kids were 5 and 8. Wife was stay-at-home parent throughout 15 year marriage, working minimal part-time jobs while running house & watching the kids. She works as a secretary / admin.

Problem: Parties separated in 2007. In 2010, signed "separation agreement" Husband got off the Interenet which is silent as to alimony. Husband has provided employer-provided medical insurance for her all these years, but nothing else. She retained me a couple of months ago -- unable to afford counsel earlier.

I would like to get her some support (at least a lump-sum buyout), but I don't want to take her money if there's no realisitc chance of it happening.

Anyone aware of a case? Anyone "been there / done that"?
