    Can anyone recommend an actuary for a Bergen County case to determine the "value" of a life estate in the marital home held by one of the spouse's parents.

    There are different assumptions for federal and state purposes. You can look at Appendix E of Beck and Sherman Inheritance Estate Taxes which is a Gann book. If you the federal table to evaluate a life estate if will be worth less than if you use the NJ state table.But I would call Bob Chalfin, 732-321-1099. He can do it.

    I would call Lee Kaminetzky, Ph.D., E.A. at 201-530-0666.  His firm is called Pension Actuaries, LLC and is on Cedar Lane in Teaneck.  He does this kind of work. Good luck.

    I don't but...would not one of the many forensic accountants we use either be able to calculate it for you or know an actuary who could???
