    2018 recruitment for Supreme Court fee arbitration committees.
    Applications are being accepted through the month.

    Consistent with Rule 1:20A-1(a), Fee Arbitration Committee members must either reside or work in the District in which they are appointed.  In addition to garnering the esteem and appreciation that comes from service on a Supreme Court committee, Fee Arbitration members also receive the benefits of:

    • great networking opportunities;
    • exemption from pro bono work under Exemption 89 (the Madden exemption); and
    • annual free ethics CLE credit offerings through the Office of Attorney Ethics.

    More information about our Fee Arbitration Program can be found online:  https://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/attorneys/oae.html.   More general information on the virtues of volunteering for the New Jersey Judiciary can be found at http://www.njcourts.gov/public/volunteer/volunteer.html.

    Successful candidates must:

    • devote a few hours per month to hearing Fee Arbitration cases;
    • analyze the reasonableness of fees under R.P.C. 1.5;
    • be guided by the administrative leadership of the current District Secretary in their District (https://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/attorneys/oaefeesecretaries.html);
    • attend New Member training in Fall 2018;
    • collaborate with other attorney and lay person panelists; and
    • be available for a four-year term of service, for an appointment running 9/1/2018 to 8/31/2022.

    Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2018.  After a vetting process with both local vicinage and Supreme Court leadership, successful candidates will be selected via Supreme Court Order in August 2018.  A resume or curriculum vitae must be attached to the application, and the application must bear an original "wet" signature, rather than a digital one.  Applications may be transmitted by e-mail (to [email protected]); US Mail (to Statewide Fee Arbitration Coordinator, Office of Attorney Ethics, PO Box 963, Trenton, NJ 08625); or fax to (609) 530-5238.   The application is attached in both Word and .pdf format and may be forwarded to whomever you believe might be an asset to the Supreme Court's fee program.
