Writing an article for the New Jersey State Bar Association’s law flagship magazine is a great way to feature your expertise. As an NJSBA member and an author, you can provide a thorough analysis of a topic of law while producing published work to share with your friends, colleagues and clients.

New Jersey Lawyer takes deep dives into specific areas of law through each special issue. In 2023, it will feature Access to Justice, Employment and Workplace, Land Use, Animal Law and Estate Planning. The magazine also plans to kick off 2024 with a look at Technology and Law Firm Practice Management.

The magazine’s editorial board seeks authors on these topics, with articles combining a thorough analysis of law with vivid stories and important discussions of individuals and societies impacted by these issues, and how lawyers can most effectively help people.

Additionally, New Jersey Lawyer is always looking for law-related articles unrelated to the topic assigned to a specific issue. This includes:

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – Perspectives on how the profession can serve and provide opportunities for all communities
  • Technology – Tech tips for lawyers and law firms
  • Ethics and Professional Responsibility – A look at integrity, conduct and service in law practice
  • Working Well – Wellness/mindfulness and mental health topics for lawyers
  • What I Wish I Knew – Lessons learned by lawyers
  • Writer’s Corner – Writing tips for legal professionals
  • Practice Perfect – Law practice management, human resources, financial information, and risk management/insurance
  • View from the Bench – Brief insights from current and retired judges

Authors interested in submitting articles should contact Mindy Drexel, Legal Publications Editor, at [email protected] for information on the specific needs for the issue. Due to space limitations, we cannot always run every article, unless we have discussed the topic with an author first.
