New Jersey Lawyer Explores the Evolving Practice of Cannabis Law

By NJSBA Staff posted 06-09-2025 10:38 AM

The June edition of New Jersey Lawyer is dedicated to key topics in cannabis law as the state responds to evolving regulations and public sentiment.

In the years since New Jersey voters approved a constitutional amendment legalizing recreational marijuana and Gov. Phil Murphy signed sweeping cannabis legislation, cannabis practice in the state has expanded to incorporate nearly every facet of the law. Across five articles by experts in New Jersey cannabis law, the June edition explores a wide range of issues – including regulation enforcement, zoning laws and social equity – that are shaping the practice.

The edition features practice tips to improve lawyer well-being through forest bathing, a writer’s corner to help refine legal writing and career advice from seasoned lawyers and judges. The magazine also includes highlights from the 2025 NJSBA Annual Meeting and Convention and an excerpt from new NJSBA President Christine A. Amalfe’s speech from the event.
