From professional development classes, networking opportunities and trips with colleagues, the New Jersey State Bar Association offers something for attorneys of every practice area in 2025. Here is a sneak peek at some of the highlights—so far—on the 2025 calendar of NJSBA events and New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education programs.

NJSBA PracticeHQ: How to Fight and Beat Procrastination

Jan. 8, 12 – 1 p.m.

Join the NJSBA for a free lunchtime webinar on the psychological roots of procrastination, why we intentionally delay tasks and ways to overcome it. The program will provide research-backed strategies and real-world examples to equip you with the knowledge to beat procrastination.

Lawyer Well-Being Committee Mtg w/ Guest Speaker David Bruno Part II

Jan. 9, 12 – 1 p.m.

Just as you're settling into the new year, learn how to set meaningful goals that stick while maintaining wellness in your legal practice. This interactive workshop is open to all NJSBA members.

Ring in the New Year by Overcoming a Lack of Confidence with WIPS

Jan. 14, 4 – 7 p.m.

Ring in the new year with the NJSBA’s Women in the Profession Section as it presents a special seminar CLE seminar with some of the state's leading female attorneys on overcoming a lack of confidence. A holiday networking reception will follow the program.

2025 Redevelopment Law Symposium

Jan. 24, 9 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.

For practitioners, developers and members of government whose work focuses on redevelopment, the 2025 Redevelopment Law Institute is an opportunity to delve more deeply into current issues impacting redevelopment projects. Learn about the latest case law regarding redevelopment area designation, what happens when your redevelopment project calls for a warehouse and how changes in the real estate market have made redevelopment more challenging.

2025 Family Law Symposium

Jan. 25, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Join nearly four dozen judges and legal experts at this premier family law event. Learn how family law intersects with other practice areas, like estate planning, immigration, bankruptcy, real estate and LGBTQ+ matters. Find out everything you need to represent clients effectively, plus get up to date on the top 10 reported and unreported cases of 2024.

2025 NJSBA Diversity Summit

Jan. 28

A must-attend educational and networking event that will explore issues of equity, inclusion and accessibility in the legal profession. The daylong program includes breakfast, lunch and a post-event networking reception.

2025 McLaughlin Awards

Feb. 11, 6 – 9 p.m.

Mark your calendar for this annual tribute to the highest standard of civility, legal competence and professionalism in the practice of civil law. This year, the NJSBA Civil Trial Bar Section will honor retired state Supreme Justice Faustino J. Fernandez-Vina, Michael G. Donahue, managing shareholder of Stark & Stark, and include a posthumous recognition of Monmouth County Assignment Judge Lisa P. Thornton.

Minorities in the Profession Section Black History Month Celebration

Feb. 19, 6 – 9 p.m.

The Minorities in the Profession Section of the NJSBA will host its annual Black History Month Celebration featuring musical performances, an art exhibit and winners from a New Jersey high school essay contest.

New Attorney Day – 2025

March 1, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

New attorneys are required to complete 16 CLE credits across six of 12 subject areas. Join the NJSBA’s New Attorney Day to meet those requirements in one convenient day. The program offers a chance to learn from veterans in the field about how to launch a successful practice and get strategies that can be put to work right away.

2025 NJSBA Women's Leadership Conference - Registration coming soon

March 3, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Join us for an inspiring and practical day of learning and guidance. Panels will cover topics that include: Show Me the Money; Tips to Navigating Difficult Conversations About Pay; Branching Out - Why You Should Leave Your Comfort Zone Inside and Outside the Office and How to Do It; Lessons from Another Generation that Will Lead in Greatness. Attendees will have a chance to visit vendors and the day ends with a networking reception.

NJSBA 2025 Virtual Spring Conference

March 6, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Enjoy a CLE extravaganza just in time for spring, when the NJSBA will present a slate of timely and cutting-edge programs as part of its Spring Conference. The day promises seminars in a variety of practice areas, with speakers at the top of the profession. Stay tuned for the schedule.

Family Law Retreat

March 23 – 27

2025 Federal Practice Bench-Bar Symposium

April 10, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Join dozens of New Jersey federal judges and esteemed federal practitioners for a special NJICLE event on the interplay between federal and state court procedure. This comprehensive program will provide an overview of the best practices in federal court – brief writing, scheduling and how to present your case – as told by the experts.

Annual Meeting and Convention

May 14 – 16

The NJSBA will return to Atlantic City for its Annual Meeting and Convention, the largest gathering of legal professionals in New Jersey. Thousands of judges, lawyers, law clerks and law students are expected to attend the three-day educational and networking event, held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
