Incoming members of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Board of Trustees sat for an orientation on the NJSBA’s structure and policies, the responsibilities as a trustee and how to make their terms successful.

NJSBA President-Elect Timothy F. McGoughran welcomed the group at the New Jersey Law Center on April 19. Serving on the Association’s governing body has been meaningful in his career and kept him at the forefront of the most pressing legal issues in the state, McGoughran said.

As trustees, the new members will be tasked with helping set policy and legislative and amicus positions.

“I’m sure you will enjoy being on the Board of Trustees as much as I have. It’s a great group of people. We pride ourselves on having respectful, meaningful discussions,” McGoughran said. “The exchange of ideas made me a better lawyer and the friendships I’ve made over the years have made me a better person and helped my practice.”

McGoughran and the incoming trustees will be sworn in during the Annual Meeting in May.
