The New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) will add its voice to the national discussion about issues affecting the legal community.

The NJSBA's representatives will take part in a variety of meetings and events centered on the American Bar Association’s Mid-Year Meeting and its upcoming House of Delegates voting session. The meeting will begin Feb. 9.

During the meeting, NJSBA leaders are holding discussions with leaders of bar associations around the country to examine issues of mutual concern from increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in the profession to the regulatory sandbox issues and alternative legal models, like non-lawyers handling some legal tasks in some jurisdictions.

In addition, NJSBA representatives will take part in the House of Delegates voting session, which is scheduled to meet virtually Feb. 14. The NJSBA's Board of Trustees recently voted to support Resolution 603 pending before the House of Delegates. The measure urges the federal government to review processes and procedures used when determining veterans’ discharge upgrade petitions to ensure they are treated fairly. The proposal was among over two dozen filed resolutions that the 596-member ABA policymaking body, will consider next week.
