Greetings. I hope this message finds you safe and well and enjoying the holiday season as best you can. This has certainly been one of the most trying years any of us has faced personally and professionally.
Just like for most of you, this year has posed many personal challenges for me - from helping my daughters with school, to missing family visits and parties, and teaching my mom how to use Zoom over the phone so we can share a meal together and see each other for the holidays. Doing all of this while maintaining our jobs and practices is no small accomplishment. Today, I celebrate all of you! I am so proud of the NJSBA, its members, and section and committee chairs this year.
The ingenuity and spirit of our profession continues to thrive. We have come together from all corners of the state, multiple bar organizations, and many different substantive practice areas to maintain an ongoing dialogue and craft recommendations about the resumption of jury trials, the reopening of courthouses, the advocacy efforts for legislation for protective measures for judges, and discussion and education of social justice issues to effectuate systemic change.
Since being sworn-in as president of the NJSBA, the generous spirit of attorneys has overwhelmed me. Every day, I see lawyers stepping up, helping their brothers and sisters work through legal questions, tackle the challenges of maintaining their practice, and finding community in new ways. I celebrate all of these actions and efforts by all of you and with all of you.
Let us keep standing strong together to bring in a new year with continued collaboration and cooperation with each other for fairness in our courts and in our justice system. Best wishes for a safe and healthy new year!
Stay safe and be well.
